Yeezy Spokesperson Milo Yiannopoulous Arrested by ICE in Louisiana
Milo Yiannopoulos, known for his role with Ye (Kanye West) and Yeezy, has been arrested by ICE in Louisiana. The U.K. native is in custody after overstaying his visa and receiving a final removal order, despite his public support for ICE actions.
Milo Yiannopoulos, who has served as head of special projects and spokesperson for Ye (formerly Kanye West) at Yeezy, was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Louisiana. Online records confirm that Yiannopoulos, a U.K. native, entered ICE custody on Thursday, August 27, and remained there as of Friday, August 28, pending his removal from the United States.
Homeland Security released a statement confirming Yiannopoulos's apprehension at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) in Kenner, Louisiana. According to DHS, he legally entered the country on May 14, 2019, through New York City. However, he subsequently overstayed his visa, thereby violating U.S. immigration laws. His failure to appear for an immigration hearing in July resulted in an Immigration Judge issuing a final order of removal on July 22. The DHS statement emphasized that Yiannopoulos "chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation’s laws" and would remain in ICE custody until his removal process is completed.
His arrest occurred potentially as he was traveling to New Orleans, where Ye was scheduled to perform at the Caesars Superdome on Friday night, August 28. Yiannopoulos gained prominence as a political commentator prior to his association with Ye. He initially joined forces with West during his attempt at a presidential run in the 2024 election, subsequently serving as a spokesperson, chief of staff, and head of special projects for Yeezy. Although he announced his resignation from Yeezy in 2024, he reportedly later returned to the company.
Ironically, Yiannopoulos has been a vocal proponent of ICE and the deportation of undocumented immigrants, frequently expressing such views on social media platforms like X. In July, he advocated for ICE agents to be stationed at supermarkets and government buildings in California, proposing "on the spot deportation for anyone who can’t prove they are in the U.S. legally." Billboard has reached out to representatives for Ye for comment regarding the situation.
