Uganda's Passport Recovery Stunt: Security Forces Nab Woman in Soroti, 261 Passports Seized!
Security agencies in Soroti City successfully conducted an intelligence-led operation, resulting in the arrest of a woman suspected of involvement in the illegal sale of passports and other official documents. The operation, executed on Sunday morning, February 22, 2026, specifically targeted a residence located in Orwadai, Soroti City.
The individual taken into custody has been identified as Tesira Abilo. She was allegedly operating from her home, engaging in the unlawful distribution and processing of various immigration-related documents. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kituuma Rusoke, the Police Spokesperson, the raid by security personnel led to the recovery of a substantial amount of official paperwork.
During the meticulously planned operation, officers seized a total of 261 passports. In addition to these, several certificates of good conduct and a number of yellow fever vaccination cards, all believed to have been unlawfully obtained or processed, were also recovered. ACP Rusoke affirmed the findings, stating, "During the operation, we recovered 261 passports, certificates of good conduct, and yellow fever cards. She was issuing them from her residence." Tesira Abilo is currently held under police custody as investigations into the illicit operation are actively ongoing.
