Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Itas, the incumbent member for Itas/Gadau Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, has announced his withdrawal from the 2027 election. Citing a voluntary and personal decision, Mai Yadi expressed gratitude to his party, the Allied Peoples’ Movement, and his constituents for their support during his tenure.
Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Itas, popularly known as Mai Yadi, the incumbent member representing the Itas/Gadau Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, has officially announced his withdrawal from the forthcoming 2027 general election for the constituency. Mai Yadi, who holds significant legislative roles as the chairman of the House committee on petitions and deputy chairman of the House Committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs, communicated his decision in a formal letter. The letter, dated October 5, 2026, was addressed to the State Chairman of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), the party under which he was duly nominated.
The announcement, which was made available to LEADERSHIP, has garnered attention within the political landscape of Bauchi State. While the letter confirmed his departure from the electoral race, it notably refrained from providing specific reasons for his decision. Instead, Mai Yadi explicitly stated that his withdrawal was "entirely voluntary and personal," emphasizing the individual nature of his choice.
In his letter, the lawmaker conveyed his formal notice, stating, “I write to give notice of my withdrawal as Allied Peoples’ Movement candidate for Itas/Gadau State Constituency seat in the Bauchi State House of Assembly in the forthcoming 2027 General Election, having been duly nominated by our great party.” He further reiterated the voluntary and personal essence of this decision.
