Tragedy Strikes Gospel Star: Princess Anne Inyang Mourns Mother, Burial Details Revealed

Nigerian gospel minister Princess Anne Inyang, known for her hit song ‘Akanam Nkwe’, has announced the peaceful passing of her beloved mother, Mrs. Mayen Mary Inyang (née Eka). Mrs. Inyang, who was 83 years old, died on September 14, 2025, at her home in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The news has led to a significant outpouring of sympathy and condolences from fans, colleagues, church leaders, members of the Christian community both in Nigeria and internationally, and various government officials.
Mrs. Mayen Mary Inyang was deeply revered as a devout Christian, a respected matriarch, and a woman widely admired for her profound humility, warmth, and unwavering commitment to the work of God. She was a dedicated member of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) in Lagos, where she worshipped faithfully for four decades. Throughout her long tenure, she actively supported various ministry activities and community outreach projects until health challenges eventually limited her participation.
Princess Anne Inyang described her mother's passing as an unexpected and profoundly heartbreaking loss. She fondly remembered her mother as an embodiment of sacrifice, compassion, and unconditional love, particularly highlighting her mother’s role as a praying parent. “No matter how old your mother is when she passes, your mother is your mother. Especially if you had a praying mother like mine,” Princess Anne lamented, reflecting on the constant blessings her mother offered. She expressed how dearly she would miss her mother’s prayers and hoped her mother could have lived longer to enjoy the fruits of her labor, but acknowledged that “we cannot question God. He gives and He takes away!” Princess Anne concluded by affirming that her mother was a precious gift whose legacy would endure forever, expressing gratitude for being able to spend time with her shortly before her passing.
Funeral arrangements have been finalized, with the burial service scheduled for January 23, 2026. The service will be held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) chapel, located at the Redemption Camp on Kilometer 46, Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Following the service, Mrs. Mayen Mary Inyang will be laid to rest at the RCCG Memorials Garden. Family members, friends, church congregants, and well-wishers are expected to attend the service to honor her life and legacy.
The family collectively remembered the late matriarch as a selfless woman whose kindness and deep devotion to God profoundly influenced many lives. They emphasized that she successfully established a strong Christian foundation within her home, living a life characterized by grace, discipline, and compassion. Princess Anne Inyang, herself a celebrated figure in gospel music with timeless hits like 'Akanam Nkwe', 'My Helper O', 'Things Are Getting Better', 'God Cannot Lie', 'Open the Floodgates', and 'Ekwak Ubok', continues to receive messages of condolence. She is widely recognized for her pioneering efforts in bringing Akwa Ibom music to the global stage.
Mrs. Mayen Mary Inyang is survived by her children, including Princess Anne as her only daughter, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family has requested prayers, support, and goodwill from the public as they prepare to lay her to rest and celebrate the enduring legacy she leaves behind.
