Tragedy Strikes Borno: Three Children Discovered Lifeless in Father’s Car

Three young children were tragically found dead inside their father’s car in the Zannari area of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, prompting a call for a thorough investigation into the harrowing incident. The father of two of the victims, Babagana Zanna Jaridama, a prominent social media political critic, has alleged that the killings are directly linked to his recent online posts, in which he accused certain politicians of undermining Governor Babagana Zulum.
Speaking to Daily Trust, Jaridama recounted the chilling details, stating that the children were abducted on Tuesday by an unidentified woman. He explained that a neighbor’s son, who was playing with them, alerted his family that a woman had enticed the children under the guise of giving them alms before abducting all three. Two of the deceased children, Anwar, aged three and a namesake of Governor Zulum, and Fatima, also known as Mama, who was just two years old, were Jaridama's own. The third victim was his neighbor's son, whose identity was not fully disclosed.
After two days of intense searching and desperate appeals for their safe return, the children's lifeless bodies were discovered inside Jaridama's car at midnight on Thursday. Jaridama confirmed that he has officially reported both the abduction and the subsequent discovery of the bodies to the police. He has urged law enforcement authorities to conduct a comprehensive and impartial investigation to ensure that justice is served for the deceased children. Additionally, he disclosed that the bodies have been transported to a hospital for an autopsy, which is expected to determine the precise cause of their untimely deaths.
Efforts to obtain an official statement from the Police Public Relations Officer of the Borno State Command, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, proved unsuccessful. He reportedly did not respond to phone calls or text messages concerning the sensitive matter.
