Tragedy Strikes: Anthony Joshua Injured in Deadly Nigeria Car Crash

Nigerian-British boxer and two-time world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a serious car crash in Nigeria on Monday, December 29, 2025. The accident, which occurred on the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Sagamu, his ancestral hometown, tragically claimed the lives of two other passengers, while Joshua himself sustained minor injuries.
According to reports from ESPN News Services and confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command, Joshua was traveling in the back of a Lexus SUV (license plate KRD 850 HN) when the vehicle was involved in a collision at approximately 11 a.m. local time. Ogun State Police Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo stated that the accident happened as a result of a burst tire on Joshua's vehicle, which caused the driver to lose control and swerve into a stationary truck parked along the road. Eyewitness reports, corroborated by the police, placed the incident near the Danco Filling Station, just before the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound side of the highway.
