The Fray and Dashboard Confessional Announce Massive 2027 Tour Down Under!

Denver-based piano-rock band The Fray is set to return to Australia and New Zealand in February 2027 for their highly anticipated Summer of Light Tour. This extensive eight-date trek comes less than two years after their previous sold-out performances Down Under, underscoring their enduring popularity in the region. The tour is particularly notable for marking the band's first-ever performance in New Zealand, concluding in Auckland.

The Summer of Light Tour will feature a blend of four indoor headline shows and four outdoor dates staged as part of the Lookout Festival series. The indoor leg, presented by TEG Live, will kick off at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on February 5th, followed by stops in Wollongong, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, and Auckland’s Eventfinda Stadium. These indoor performances will feature support from the acclaimed band Dashboard Confessional and Australian artist Rachael Fahim.

For the outdoor Lookout Festival dates, presented by Face to Face Touring, British indie-pop act Bastille will join the bill alongside Dashboard Confessional, with additional performances by local Australian acts Killing Heidi and Little Birdy. These festival shows will take place across scenic locations including Torquay, Perth, Lake Macquarie, and Sandstone Point, offering fans diverse settings to experience The Fray’s music.

The tour serves as a significant platform for The Fray to showcase their new album, "A Light That Waits," which was released in March. This marks their first full-length album in over a decade and their first as a core trio comprising singer-guitarist Joe King, guitarist Dave Welsh, and drummer Ben Wysocki. Joe King expressed his excitement for the upcoming tour, stating, “We had such an incredible time touring in Australia in 2025. The energy from those crowds was unbelievable. The Fray rose to prominence in the mid-2000s, solidifying their status as one of the defining piano-rock acts of their era. Their 2005 debut album, "How to Save a Life," achieved significant commercial success, being certified four-times platinum in the U.S. and becoming one of the best-selling digital debuts of all time. This success was driven by two enduring singles: "Over My Head (Cable Car)" and the title track, "How to Save a Life." The latter became a major cultural touchstone, notably through its use on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, spending an impressive 58 weeks on the chart, and eventually earning Diamond certification from the RIAA.

Their subsequent 2009 self-titled album further cemented their success by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Throughout their illustrious career, The Fray have garnered four Grammy nominations and three Billboard Music Awards, testament to their widespread critical and popular acclaim.
