Taylor Swift's 'Opalite' Dominates Billboard Hot 100! Pop Icon Celebrates with Plans for a Giant Pretzel

Taylor Swift has once again claimed the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with her song “Opalite,” marking a significant achievement that she celebrated with fans through an extensive Instagram carousel post on Monday, February 23rd. The megastar shared a six-slide collection featuring never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage from both the recording studio sessions and the set of the “Opalite” music video, accompanied by a lengthy and heartfelt caption.
Among the shared content was a mirror selfie video taken on the music video set, where Swift playfully remarked on feeling “so [herself]” and prepared to “go out there and slay another day” while sporting her distinct denim jeans, denim vest, and multicolored striped shirt. This particular ensemble is instantly recognizable to fans of the “Opalite” music video, as it’s the outfit she wears during an comically awkward couple’s photo shoot alongside actor Domhnall Gleeson, with Scottish singer/songwriter Lewis Capaldi humorously serving as the photographer.
Swift’s post also highlighted the collaborative effort behind the success of “Opalite.” The track’s co-writers and producers, Max Martin and Shellback, made multiple appearances throughout the Instagram carousel. They were featured in videos from the recording studio, where they could be seen fine-tuning the track and enthusiastically jamming along as Swift delivered the melody. The final slide of the post captured the three collaborators posing together, raising champagne flutes in a celebratory toast to their accomplishment.
“Opalite” now joins “The Fate of Ophelia” as the second song from Swift’s highly anticipated 2025 album, The Life of a Showgirl, to achieve the No. 1 position on the Hot 100 chart. In her accompanying caption, Swift made sure to extend her deep gratitude to her dedicated fanbase, the Swifties, for their pivotal role in making this success possible. She emphasized that this marks the first time since the release of her acclaimed album 1989 in 2014 that she has had two songs from the same album simultaneously top the chart. Expressing her appreciation, Swift stated, “I know that’s a lot of numbers but it all adds up to me being so thankful to the fans who helped make this happen by welcoming this song into your lives with open arms.”
This latest triumph elevates “Opalite” to Swift’s 14th overall No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. With this remarkable achievement, she officially draws even with Rihanna for the third-most No. 1s on the chart, trailing only behind The Beatles, who hold 20, and Mariah Carey, with 19. Furthermore, Taylor Swift currently holds the impressive record for the most No. 1 hits this decade, boasting a total of nine chart-toppers. In a playful closing remark, referencing a memorable moment from the “Opalite” video, Swift hinted at her celebratory plans, saying she “might go buy a giant pretzel at the mall to celebrate, iykyk.”
