Streaming Sensation: Stranger Things' Grand Finale Teased

Welcome to a comprehensive guide of notable shows arriving on television and streaming platforms from late November through December, offering a rich blend of science fiction, fantasy, historical dramas, and returning fan favorites.
Kicking off the watch list in late November, from Sunday, November 23 to Saturday, November 29, Netflix prepares for the highly anticipated return of Stranger Things with its fifth and final season premiere on Wednesday, November 26 at 3 a.m. Eastern. The season will be split into three parts, with the initial four episodes dropping on November 26, followed by three on December 25, and the ultimate conclusion on New Year’s Eve. Viewers can expect Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Hopper (David Harbor), Mike (Finn Wolffhard), and the rest of the Hawkins crew to embark on their quest to confront and defeat the formidable Vecna.
Also premiering this week is Blossoms Shanghai, making its American debut on The Criterion Channel on Monday, November 25 at 8 p.m. Eastern. This 30-episode drama, adapted from Jin Yucheng’s 2013 novel Blossoms, marks visionary director Wong Kar-wai’s first television series. It chronicles the rise of Ah Bao (Hu Ge), a Gatsby-esque self-made millionaire navigating 1990s Shanghai. Additionally, The Beatles Anthology becomes available on Disney+ starting Wednesday, November 27 at 3 a.m. Eastern.
As 2025 draws to a close, December promises a heavy dose of sci-fi and fantasy content. Beyond the final episodes of Stranger Things, the month sees the returns of popular series like Fallout and Percy Jackson And The Olympians. Starz will introduce an 1850s-set Western and a Spartacus sequel, while Netflix offers another season of Emily In Paris. Disney+ also features a Taylor Swift docuseries, and Peacock launches a new spy show starring Simu Liu and Melissa Barrera.
The Spanish drama The New Years premieres on MUBI on December 3. Created by filmmaker Rodrigo Sorogoyen with Sara Cano and Paula Fabra, this series follows the intricate journey of a couple (portrayed by Élite‘s Iria del Río and Francesco Carril) over a decade of New Year’s Eve celebrations, charting their ups and downs.
Netflix delves into the Old West with The Abandons, launching on December 4. From Kurt Sutter, known for Sons Of Anarchy and Mayans M.C., this action drama is set in 1850s Oregon. It features a religious Irish woman (Lena Headey of Game Of Thrones) forced to confront a powerful, land-hungry adversary played by Gillian Anderson. Lucas Till, Aisling Franciosi, and Nick Robinson also co-star.
The Spartacus universe expands with Spartacus: House Of Ashur, premiering on Starz on December 5. Fifteen years after the original launch, creator Steven D. Knight brings this period drama back, envisioning an alternate history where gladiator Ashur (Nick E. Tremblay) was not killed on Mount Vesuvius. Instead, he takes control of the school that once enslaved him, reuniting with his frenemy Lucretia (Lucy Lawless). Liam McIntyre briefly reprises his role as Spartacus, with Graham McTavish and Claudia Black also joining the cast.
Finally, Percy Jackson And The Olympians returns for its second season on Disney+ on December 10. Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg’s epic continues as Percy (Walker Scobell) embarks on a vital quest to rescue his friend Grover (Aryan Simhadri), whose mission to find the god Poseidon (Toby Stephens) in the sea has gone awry. Season two introduces Courtney B. Vance as Zeus, taking over the role from the late Lance Reddick, and welcomes new cast members Kristen Schaal, Margaret Cho, and Sandra Bernhard.
