Arteta Admits He Was ‘Ashamed’ After Arsenal’s Gritty Win Over Tottenham
Liverpool secured a dramatic late win against Nottingham Forest thanks to a 97th‑minute goal by Alexis Mac Allister, which came after VAR disallowed an earlier effort in a tense match.
Manager Arne Slot admitted his side produced “the worst we’ve played,” suggesting a draw would have been a fairer result.
Slot noted the team deserved some luck after previous misfortunes this season, finally securing all three points.
Mac Allister’s stoppage-time winner followed an earlier attempt that hit his elbow and was disallowed by VAR, before the rebound ultimately found the net.
VAR again checked the confirmed goal for offside, but it stood, ending Nottingham Forest’s hopes of salvaging a point.
Liverpool were forced into a late change before kick-off when Florian Wirtz was withdrawn with back pain, leaving Slot to manage without the influential midfielder.
On the other side, Nottingham Forest boss Vítor Pereira, in his first Premier League match, described the final result as “very, very unfair”.
Pereira urged his players to stay resilient and focus on the positive aspects of their performance despite the late heartbreak.
