Shocking Child Cigarette Video Sparks Police Manhunt and Investigation!
&format=jpeg)
The Ghana Police Service has initiated a full-scale investigation into a deeply disturbing viral video circulating online. The video allegedly depicts a man administering what appears to be a cigarette to a young child, raising significant concerns about child welfare. Police authorities have confirmed their unwavering commitment to diligently track down the suspect responsible for this act and have explicitly stated that the safety and well-being of the child involved are their paramount priority.
In their efforts to expedite the investigation, the Ghana Police Service has issued a public appeal for assistance. They are urging anyone with credible information concerning the identity or current location of either the man seen in the video or the child to immediately report to the nearest police station. This call for public cooperation underscores the urgency and seriousness with which the authorities are approaching this case, aiming to swiftly identify and apprehend the individual involved and ensure the child's protection.
Concurrently, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has vehemently condemned the incident, issuing a strong statement on Friday, November 21, describing it as a blatant case of child endangerment. The Ministry emphasized that all parents, carers, guardians, and community members bear a collective responsibility to shield children from any form of harm. Exposing a child to harmful or age-inappropriate substances is not only categorized as abusive but is also a direct infringement upon the child's fundamental rights, dignity, and overall well-being. The Ministry further warned that such reprehensible conduct is punishable under Ghanaian law.
According to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the act depicted in the video breaches several crucial provisions enshrined within the Children’s Act, 1998 (Act 560). This foundational legislation mandates the State, parents, and the general public to safeguard every child from physical, psychological, and moral dangers. Furthermore, the incident directly contradicts the core aims of the Early Childhood Care and Development Policy, which is designed to promote safe, healthy, and nurturing environments essential for children’s holistic growth and development.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to seeing the investigation through to its conclusion, ensuring that the perpetrator is identified and held fully accountable for their actions. This steadfast resolve underscores Ghana’s unwavering dedication to upholding child protection standards and rigorously enforcing its comprehensive child-rights legislation. The ongoing efforts reflect a broader national commitment to creating a safe and protective environment for all children.
