Spider-Man: Brand New Day has swung past the $1 billion mark at the global box office in record time, becoming the second-fastest film in history to reach the milestone behind Avengers: Endgame. The blockbuster also delivered the biggest Monday haul ever, cementing its place among Hollywood's biggest commercial successes.
The latest Spider-Man: Brand New Day also shattered records in North America, posting a historic $360 million domestic opening to surpass Avengers: Endgame's previous benchmark. The extraordinary debut has provided a major boost for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is looking to build momentum ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday.
Already among the small group of films to gross more than $1 billion worldwide, Brand New Day has overtaken the lifetime earnings of several major 2026 releases and is expected to surpass Toy Story 5 as the year's highest-grossing movie.
Analysts also believe it could eventually eclipse Spider-Man: No Way Home's $1.9 billion global haul and become only the third superhero film to cross the $2 billion mark.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film stars Tom Holland alongside Zendaya and Jacob Batalon. According to the official synopsis on Marvel Studios, Peter Parker now lives in complete anonymity after the events of No Way Home, dedicating himself entirely to protecting New York before a mysterious new threat changes everything.
Critically, the film has also impressed. It currently holds a 90% critics' score and a 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, with positive reviews helping fuel its exceptional box office momentum.
