Ruben Amorim lauded the victory as "really important" and praised his players for a "complete performance." He noted, "We had to play different games in different moments of the game. And I think the players understood really well what to do in every moment." Casemiro also performed well, scoring and making important interceptions. Bruno Fernandes, in his 300th appearance, set the tone from midfield. Senne Lammens made crucial saves despite conceding Welbeck's free-kick, and defenders like Matthijs de Ligt had solid outings. Luke Shaw, who was substituted due to a knock, also contributed positively to the build-up of Casemiro's goal.
