Reading & Leeds Shock: Festival Fans Uncover Secret Headliner Clues

Fans of the Reading and Leeds Festival, a twin-site event held over the same weekend, are abuzz with speculation about potential secret sets, a common feature of the festival. The 2025 lineup already boasts major names such as Travis Scott, Bring Me the Horizon, Hozier, and Chappell Roan, who is set for an exclusive UK headline festival appearance. However, keen festival-goers are convinced that several other significant acts might make unexpected appearances across both sites.
Reddit users have been actively discussing the possibility of secret sets, noting a potential gap in the Saturday schedule before Snow Strippers on the Festival Republic stage and an hour-long break before main stage headliners. One prominent theory points to the Brit rock band Wolf Alice, formed in London in 2010. Speculation intensified because their fourth studio album, 'The Clearing,' is scheduled for release. Another band strongly rumored is the Aussie electronic rock group Pendulum, whose newest album, 'Inertia,' is also set to drop. Fans believe these album release dates make both bands logical choices for surprise performances.
Further fueling the excitement, fans of The Foo Fighters have gone into a frenzy after observing what they believe are sparse sections in the festival lineup poster, suggesting room for a surprise act. This theory gained traction when the band itself posted a nostalgic throwback on Instagram to their 2019 Reading Festival performance, including a link to their full set on BBC iPlayer. While some Reddit users expressed skepticism about such a 'huge headline band' doing a secret set, The Foo Fighters have a long history with the festival, headlining multiple times since their first appearance in 1995, most recently in 2019.
Additionally, speculation arose for Chase & Status following a cryptic post on the festival's official Instagram account. The post featured a silhouette of two people with question marks, which fans on Reddit quickly identified as resembling Chase & Status, leading to widespread hopes for their appearance on the Aux Stage at Reading.
Meanwhile, not all news has been positive, as American rockers House of Protection confirmed they would no longer be performing at the festival. The band announced their withdrawal via Instagram, stating that financial constraints prevented them from making the trip. Most of their funding for the short journey was dependent on a performance at the Heavy Music Awards, which was unfortunately canceled due to serious health issues affecting a key team member. House of Protection expressed deep disappointment to their fans but assured them they are already planning a return to the UK in October for a tour with Architects.
