Reading & Leeds Secret Set Frenzy: Fans Unmask Hidden Headliners!

The highly anticipated Reading and Leeds Festival 2025, sponsored by Rockstar Energy and featuring prominent headliners such as Travis Scott, Bring Me the Horizon, Hozier, and Chappell Roan, is abuzz with fan speculation over potential secret sets. Secret performances have long been a celebrated tradition at these twin festivals, held concurrently over the same weekend, and this year's event is no exception, with eagle-eyed gig-goers and online communities dissecting every clue.
Two bands heavily rumored to make surprise appearances are British rock band Wolf Alice and Australian electronic rock group Pendulum. Fans on Reddit have pointed to the timing of their new album releases as a significant indicator. Wolf Alice's fourth studio album, "The Clearing," is scheduled for release on Friday, August 22, while Pendulum's newest album, "Inertia," will also drop on the same day. This simultaneous timing has led many to believe these acts are poised for unexpected sets across both festival sites, a logical conclusion given the band's touring schedules and album launches.
Further fueling the excitement, legendary American rock band Foo Fighters are also at the center of widespread secret set rumors. Fans noticed unusual gaps in the festival lineup poster, which appeared more sparse than in previous years, leading to theories of a surprise slot. Adding to this, the Foo Fighters themselves posted a nostalgic throwback video on Instagram to their 2019 Reading Festival performance, prompting a flurry of speculation among fans on platforms like the Leeds Festival Community Reddit page. While some expressed skepticism about such a major headlining act performing a secret set, the band's extensive history with the festival – having played many times since 1995 and headlining in 2002, 2005, 2012, and 2019 – keeps the possibility alive for many enthusiasts.
Another strong contender for a surprise performance is electronic duo Chase & Status. Speculation intensified after the festival's official Instagram account posted a "give away" clue: a silhouette of two people with question marks. This visual prompt led many revellers to identify it as strongly resembling Chase & Status, with rumors circulating about a specific secret set time of 19:30 on the Aux Stage at Reading. This level of detail in fan theories suggests a strong conviction regarding their potential appearance.
However, amidst the excitement, there was disappointing news regarding American rockers House of Protection. The band confirmed their withdrawal from the festival due to unforeseen financial difficulties. The primary funding for their trip was dependent on a performance at the Heavy Music Awards, which was unfortunately canceled due to serious health issues affecting a key member of their team. Despite being "devastated" by this turn of events, House of Protection assured fans they plan to return to the UK in October for a tour with fellow band Architects, aiming to make up for the missed festival appearance.
