Disappointment as Nadco Report Sidesteps Key Raila Odinga Demands

The report from the Committee on the Implementation of the ten-point agenda and the National Dialogue Committee (Nadco), released yesterday, has elicited significant disappointment among many Kenyans.
This report, spearheaded by the Agnes Zani-led team, was widely anticipated to reflect the government’s unwavering commitment to implementing a crucial reform agenda.
However, it notably failed to address several key issues that former ODM leader Raila Odinga had specifically demanded when signing the Memorandum of Understanding on March 7, 2025.
Among the burning issues conspicuously ignored in the report was the critical actualisation of the two-thirds gender rule.
This omission, alongside others, has led to widespread criticism and frustration, as it deviates from the expectations set by the initial dialogue and the commitments outlined in the MoU.
The public's disappointment stems from the perception that the report did not adequately reflect a genuine intent to address foundational governance and social reforms, particularly those concerning gender equality, which have been long-standing demands.
The Nadco report was expected to be a testament to comprehensive political will and a roadmap for significant societal changes.
Its failure to incorporate essential demands has led many to question the depth of the government's commitment to the broader reform agenda and to the spirit of the National Dialogue itself.
