Political Firestorm: UPND Cadres Storm PF Headquarters in Zambia!

The Patriotic Front (PF) Secretariat in Zambia reportedly came under a violent attack on November 15, 2025, allegedly carried out by cadres from the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND). This incident has quickly escalated political tensions within the capital. A circulating video reportedly depicts an injured PF cadre, speaking in Tonga with visible bloodstains, claiming to have been attacked by UPND cadres and indicating that the incident was reported to the Lusaka Central Police.
In response to the alleged assault, Celestin M Mukandila, the Tonse Alliance National Youth Chairman and a Patriotic Front Member of Central Committee, issued a scathing statement. He unequivocally condemned the attack, describing such conduct as "unacceptable in a democracy" and a direct threat to peace, order, and the safety of Zambian citizens. Mukandila emphasized that this violence is not only an assault on the PF but also a grave infringement on the Zambian people’s fundamental rights to political participation, safety, and freedom of association.
Mukandila called upon the Zambia Police Service to take immediate and decisive action, including effecting arrests and ensuring that all individuals involved are brought to justice. He stressed that law enforcement must act "without fear or favour," highlighting the nation's awareness of public statements that reportedly preceded these violent events. The PF official further urged the police to investigate the alleged roles of Lusaka Province UPND Chairman Mr. Obvious Mwaliteta and Bweengwa Member of Parliament Mr. Kasautu Muchelo, citing their recent statements that he claims incited violence.
While reaffirming the Patriotic Front's commitment to peace, democracy, and issue-based politics, in line with its ongoing rebranding agenda under the late Former President Dr. Edgar C. Lungu, Mukandila also issued a firm warning. He stated that the party's dedication to peace should not be misinterpreted as weakness, asserting that the PF will defend its members and democratic space through lawful and constitutional means. He called upon the ruling party to exercise restraint, respect citizens' rights, and uphold the safety of every Zambian. As of now, neither the Zambia Police Service nor the UPND has released any official statement or confirmation regarding the alleged assault, the extent of injuries, or the identities of the attackers, making this a developing story awaiting official clarification.
