Abducted Oyo Principal Receives Brand-New Car After 56 Days in Captivity

Mrs. Rachael Alamu, principal of Ahoro Esinle School in Oyo State, has received a brand-new Toyota Camry after surviving 56 days in captivity following her abduction alongside teachers and pupils during a gunmen attack on May 15, 2026.

The victims were rescued by security agencies after enduring weeks of abuse, during which the children were reportedly beaten into silence, male teachers were chained and blindfolded, and the group was forced to trek through forests at night to evade security operatives.

They were later taken to the Military Hospital in Ibadan for treatment and psychosocial support before being handed over to Governor Seyi Makinde.

Following her release, Mrs. Alamu said her first concern was the safety of her family and the fate of the vehicle she had been driving on the day of the abduction. She explained that she initially believed the police had recovered and towed the car, only to later discover it had been burnt by the abductors at a different location.

Despite the traumatic experience, she expressed gratitude that her family was safe and acknowledged the support she received after her rescue.

In a show of solidarity, APC governorship candidate Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli donated a new Toyota Camry to the school principal, with the presentation attended by Akeem Adeyemi, the lawmaker representing Afijio/Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba Federal Constituency.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Mrs. Alamu said she hopes to recover emotionally with time but admitted she is uncertain about returning to Ahoro Esinle School, citing the distance to the community and the lasting psychological impact of her experience.
