Nigeria Has Declined Under APC Since 2015, Wabara Warns Against Another Term Beyond 2027
Former Senate President Adolphus Wabara has criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming Nigeria's fortunes have steadily declined since the party came to power in 2015.
Speaking in Umuahia while marking his 78th birthday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees Chairman argued that the APC has failed to fulfil its promises to Nigerians. He warned that allowing the party to remain in power beyond 2027 could further endanger the country's future.
Wabara said Nigerians have experienced worsening living conditions, growing insecurity, rising debt, and deepening social divisions despite promises of change. He also expressed concern over what he described as attempts to weaken opposition voices and shrink the democratic space, warning that such developments could undermine Nigeria's democracy.
According to him, the country's biggest challenge is poor leadership rather than a lack of resources or human capacity.
The former senator pointed to the rising cost of living, declining purchasing power, unemployment, and increasing public frustration as evidence of the nation's struggles. He urged eligible Nigerians, particularly young people, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in future elections.
Wabara also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the judiciary, and security agencies to uphold integrity and patriotism in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.
