Olivia Rodrigo's new album, "You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love," has debuted at No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, achieving her career-best opening week. This marks her third consecutive No. 1 album, setting a record for international album releases in the U.K. for 2026.
Olivia Rodrigo has achieved a career-best opening week with her latest album, "You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love," which debuted at No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart on June 19. This marks Rodrigo's third consecutive No. 1 album, following the success of "Sour" (2021) and "Guts" (2023). The 23-year-old artist's new album garnered an impressive 103,000 chart units in its opening week, more than doubling the opening week units of "Sour" (51,000) and "Guts" (60,000).
This accomplishment also makes "You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love" the U.K.’s biggest opening week for an international album release in 2026. Expressing her gratitude to the Official Charts Company, Rodrigo stated, “Thank you so much for this Number 1 album award! It means so much to me. I wrote so many of these songs in the U.K., so it makes it extra special. Thank you all for listening, I appreciate it so much. I can’t wait to put this on my mantle!”
Beyond Rodrigo's success, other notable movements on the chart include Michael Jackson’s "The Essential" collection, which maintained its position at No. 2. Harry Styles’ album "Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally" saw a significant jump of nine places to No. 12, coinciding with the start of his 12-night residency at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 12 and a performance at Meltdown Festival on June 16. His previous albums, 2022’s "Harry’s House" (No. 30) and 2019’s "Fine Line" (No. 34), also experienced a boost in their chart positions.
Olivia Dean’s "The Art of Loving" held steady at No. 4, while Embrace’s "Avalanche" secured a No. 5 spot, marking their highest chart position since 2018’s "Love Is A Basic Need." Additionally, Sonny Fodera achieved his first top 20 placement with "Can We Do It All Again?" at No. 20, and Zac Byran’s "With Heaven on Top" re-entered the top 40 at No. 40 following the U.K. leg of his stadium tour.
