Legendary Anime Star Naruto Makes Grand Return After 3-Year Absence!

The world of trading card games (TCGs) is experiencing a significant boom, driven by the immense popularity of franchises like Pokémon and One Piece TCG. This surge has even led to major intellectual properties collaborating with established games, such as the recent Marvel Superheroes set in Magic: The Gathering, bringing beloved characters into the card-playing arena. Amidst this vibrant landscape, a major anime franchise is set to receive its own dedicated trading card game very soon.

In Japan, Bandai Namco stands as a prominent player in the TCG scene, operating various successful titles under its BANDAI CARD GAMES sub-brand. Their extensive portfolio includes the Digimon Card Game, Union Arena, Dragon Ball Super Card Game, One Piece Card Game (notably one of the most popular, with singles fetching high values), and the more recent Gundam Card Game. These games continue to be actively played and enjoyed by a dedicated fanbase.

Building on this strong foundation, Bandai has officially partnered with another iconic anime franchise to introduce its characters to the TCG world. BANDAI CARD GAMES has announced the upcoming release of a trading card game based on the globally renowned Naruto series, to be titled "Naruto Card Game." This highly anticipated TCG will draw its inspiration directly from Masashi Kishimoto's original 1999 manga series of the same name and is slated for release next year.

Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, expressed his excitement about the new card game in a press release, sharing his anticipation for fans to engage with his characters in a new format. "I'm glad to see the world of NARUTO grow larger once again. I truly hope these cards find their way to both your hands and your hearts," Kishimoto remarked, highlighting the personal connection he hopes players will form with the game.

While specific images of the cards or detailed game mechanics have yet to be revealed, fans will get their first official look and a demo of the Naruto Card Game at Gen Con 2026. This event will feature dedicated tutorial sessions, offering participants an early opportunity to learn the game. Attendees of these sessions will also receive a special gift set, including a promotional card titled "CP-001 Chakra Card -Gen Con 2026 Ver.-" along with other exclusive merchandise. Registrations for these tutorial sessions are scheduled to commence on June 21 via the official Gen Con website.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Naruto is a Japanese media franchise centered on Naruto Uzumaki, a spirited young ninja with the ambitious dream of becoming the next Hokage, the leader of his village. Unbeknownst to him, he carries the burden of being the host of the Nine-Tailed Fox, a formidable demon sealed within him. After successfully passing his ninja exam on his third attempt, Naruto is assigned to a team alongside Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. Together, they embark on various missions, navigating the challenges of ninja life, strengthening their bonds, and evolving into stronger individuals. The original manga series debuted in 1999, followed by an anime adaptation in 2002. Fans can stream Naruto on platforms such as Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Prime Video.

Beyond the TCG announcement, the digital publication Collider also offers a range of engaging content, including interactive quizzes designed for entertainment. One such example is the "Which Action Hero Would Be Your Perfect Partner?" quiz, which allows users to determine their ideal action hero companion based on their preferences in various mission-critical scenarios, featuring iconic figures like Rambo, James Bond, Indiana Jones, John McClane, and Ethan Hunt. This type of content showcases Collider's diverse offerings alongside its news and updates on popular franchises.
