Oasis Reunion Turmoil: Scuffles, Line-Up Confirmed, and Ticketmaster Threats

The highly anticipated Oasis reunion tour is set to kick off, with bassist Andy Bell confirming his involvement. Bell, who played with Oasis from 1999 to 2009 and later with Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye, expressed his excitement about rejoining the band for their extensive 2025 schedule. He is expected to be joined by longtime collaborator Gem Archer, guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, and drummer Joey Waronker. The tour comprises 41 dates booked for 2025, beginning in the UK and Ireland in July before spanning multiple continents. Notable support acts include Cast, Richard Ashcroft, Cage The Elephant, and Ball Park Music.
In Scotland, the band is scheduled to play sold-out shows at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9, and 12. Tickets for the tour sold out in record time, with an astonishing 10 million people from over 100 countries attempting to secure them. However, amid the excitement, the band's manager Alec McKinlay confirmed that there would be no new material released by Oasis and no further tour dates added, emphasizing that this is “very much the last time around.” McKinlay also detailed the efforts to keep the comeback tour a secret, highlighting the phenomenal public reaction when the news finally broke. He explicitly refuted Liam Gallagher's earlier social media claims about a new album being “finished.”
The reunion tour has not been without controversy, particularly regarding ticket sales. The UK competition watchdog has threatened legal action against Ticketmaster over “misleading” methods used during the sale of Oasis reunion tour tickets. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) previously warned that Ticketmaster had “breached the law” and “misled fans,” launching an investigation after thousands of fans paid significantly over the odds. Concerns included the sale of 'platinum' tickets for up to 2.5 times the price of standard tickets, often without offering additional benefits and located in the same areas. The watchdog also criticized Ticketmaster for not clearly informing consumers about two different price categories for standing tickets, with cheaper ones selling out before more expensive options were released. Oasis, for their part, attributed the dynamic pricing fiasco to their management, promoters, and Ticketmaster, stating that the band itself was “not aware” the system would be used. They acknowledged that the “execution of the plan failed to meet expectations” despite intentions for a fair fan experience.
During the Scottish leg of the tour, Liam Gallagher made headlines with his outspoken comments. He revealed on stage at Murrayfield Stadium that he had been banned from throwing his tambourine and maracas into the crowd, a long-standing tradition. This ban was imposed after an incident at a Wembley show where two individuals reportedly mobbed a female fan to steal his maracas. Gallagher expressed his frustration to the audience, stating, “I’ve just been told, ‘Don’t do any of that s**t anymore,’ because you don’t know how to behave yourselves.” Furthermore, Liam used his platform to vehemently criticize Edinburgh Council Chiefs, who had reportedly branded Oasis fans as “fat, drunk, and rowdy” in leaked documents. On the band's first night, he retorted by calling the Council “f*****g slags” and disparaging the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with cynical remarks about street performers. He also sensationally claimed that the band would bring “two billion pounds” into the city over the next few days, despite implying the city would “see none of it.”
