Oasis Mania: Reunion Tour Fuels Hype, Legal Threats & Backstage Drama!

The long-awaitedOasis reunion tour, set to see the band head toScotlandlater this summer, has been confirmed with bassist Andy Bellstating his involvement. Bell, who played with Oasis from 1999 to 2009 and later in Liam Gallagher’spost-Oasis project Beady Eye, confirmed his participation to Austrian newspaper Oe24, expressing his excitement for the tour.

He is expected to be joined by Beady Eyebandmate Gem Archer, Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs on guitar, and drummer Joey Waronker. The band has 41 dates booked for 2025, kicking off at stadiums across the UK and Ireland in July before moving across multiple continents. Support acts include Cast, Richard Ashcroft, Cage The Elephant, and Ball Park Music.

The band, fronted by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, will play sold-out shows at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9, and 12. Tickets for these highly anticipated concerts sold out in record time, with 10 million people from over 100 countries attempting to secure them. Despite the overwhelming demand and success of the initial tour sales, the band’s manager Alec McKinlayhas definitively ruled out new material and additional tour dates, stating, “This is very much the last time around, as Noel’s made clear in the press.” McKinlay also detailed the stringent measures taken to keep the comeback tour news under wraps, highlighting the phenomenal public reaction once the announcement was made, calling it “Finally, some good news after all the nonsense that’s been going on in the world.”

The reunion tour has not been without its controversies, particularly regarding ticket sales. The UK competition watchdog has threatened legal action against Ticketmaster over its “misleading” methods. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) launched an investigation after thousands of fans paid significantly over the odds for tickets, with some paying more than £350 for tickets initially priced at £150. Concerns include the labelling of certain seated tickets as ‘platinum’—sold for up to 2.5 times the price of standard tickets without offering additional benefits and often located in the same areas—and the failure to inform consumers about two categories of standing tickets at different prices, with cheaper tickets being sold out first. Oasis, for their part, blamed their management for the dynamic pricing fiasco, stating they were “not aware” the system would be used and that the decision was made in meetings between Ticketmaster, promoters, and management.

On stage in Scotland,Liam Gallagher made headlines with several outspoken comments. He confirmed he had been banned from throwing his tambourine and maracas into the crowd at the end of gigs, a measure taken after two individuals mobbed a female fan to snatch his maracas at a Wembley show. Furthermore, Liam used his platform to openly berate Edinburgh Council Chiefs, calling them “f****** slags” after leaked documents reportedly branded Oasis fans as “fat, drunk, and rowdy” ahead of the concerts. He also took a swipe at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, dismissing it as “s****y card tricks” and expressing a cynical view on the economic impact, claiming the band would bring “two billion pounds” into the city, none of which the council would see.

Following the tour’s success, rumors about future plans for Noel and Liam Gallagher have emerged, including offers for four huge shows atKnebworth Housenext year to mark the 30th anniversary of their historic 1996 concerts, and a possible residency at the Etihad Stadium. However, sources close to the band indicate that Noel and Liam are not considering anything for 2026, intending to take a “well-earned holiday” after the current tour concludes. They are aware of the speculation and fan desires to “keep the magic going,” but the ultimate decision rests with them, balancing the desire to capture the zeitgeist versus drawing a line under this chapter. Offers from private bidders and festivals like Coachella and Benicassim have reportedly been stonewalled so far, reinforcing the current stance against extending the reunion beyond the confirmed dates and material.
