Nissan Z Kaze Concept Revives Iconic T-Top Roof With Modern Performance
Nissan's new Z Kaze concept car masterfully blends nostalgia with modern performance, featuring a striking Pacific Teal paint, a classic T-top roof, and restored NISMO LMGT2 wheels. With a blend of NISMO and GReddy components under the hood and a detailed interior, this concept is generating significant buzz among enthusiasts.
Nissan has leaned into the heritage of its Z sports-car lineage with the Z Kaze concept, combining the modern Z with design cues and performance components inspired by earlier generations. Finished in a distinctive Pacific Teal paint, the concept features a wider stance, subtly enlarged body lines, a vented carbon-fibre bonnet, prominent fender flares and a custom carbon-fibre aerodynamic body kit.
Its most notable retro feature is the return of a T-top roof, a design previously associated with the 280ZX and 300ZX, before later Z models moved toward more conventional convertible configurations.
The Z Kaze also incorporates a restored set of 18-inch NISMO LMGT2 multi-piece wheels, which are no longer in production and were sourced and rebuilt specifically for the concept. Beneath its retro-inspired exterior are NISMO suspension components and several GReddy performance parts, including a Supreme SP exhaust system, Airinx air-filter kit, and front-mounted air-to-air intercooler.
Nissan has not disclosed the concept’s exact power output, although the standard Z’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 is rated at 400 horsepower. Unlike many concepts that focus primarily on exterior design, the Z Kaze features a fully developed cabin with leather seats, carbon-fibre trim and Bose headrest speakers, designed to maintain an immersive audio experience even with the T-top panels removed.
The combination of modern performance hardware and heritage-inspired styling gives the concept a distinctly retro-modern character while retaining the proportions of the current Z. Nissan has not confirmed plans to put the Z Kaze into production, leaving its T-top configuration and bespoke performance package as concept-car features for now.
