Nicki Minaj's Instagram Mystery: Deactivated After Controversial AmericaFest Appearance!

Rap superstar Nicki Minaj has recently taken a step back from social media, deactivating her Instagram account following a controversial guest appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest. The 43-year-old artist's social media hiatus began on Wednesday, December 24, amidst a wave of backlash stemming from an interview she conducted in Phoenix on December 21. During this highly publicized event, Minaj sat down with Erika Kirk, the wife of prominent right-wing political commentator Charlie Kirk, sparking considerable discussion across various platforms.
During the interview, Nicki Minaj openly expressed praise for both President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. In a moment that quickly garnered attention, she referred to them as “amazing role models,” but then awkwardly, and seemingly by mistake, called Vance an “assassin.” Minaj's exact words were, “Dear young men, you have amazing role models like our handsome, dashing president and you have amazing role models like the assassin JD Vance, our vice president.” She quickly realized her error, which was particularly sensitive given that Charlie Kirk, Erika's husband, had been shot and killed on September 10, an event Utah Governor Spencer Cox described as a “political assassination.” Erika Kirk promptly reassured Minaj after the verbal slip-up, stating, “Trust me, there’s nothing new under the sun that I have not heard. So you’re fine. I love you.”
The controversy extended beyond the interview itself, with many questioning Minaj's political leanings. Following the event, model and personality Amber Rose came to Minaj's defense against claims that her support for Donald Trump might alienate the LGBTQ+ community. Rose told TMZ, “She didn’t say anything wrong. She didn’t say anything about the LGBTQ+ community at all. Why do people think anyone over there is homophobic? I’m not homophobic, my assistant has been with me for 11 years; he’s Black and gay. I have a bunch of trans friend — so does Nicki.” This statement aimed to clarify Minaj's stance and personal connections, suggesting her political views do not equate to prejudice.
Adding another layer to the post-AmericaFest discussions, Vice President JD Vance himself acknowledged a point made by Nicki Minaj during her conversation with Erika Kirk. Taking to X, Vance noted, “Nicki Minaj said something at Amfest that was really profound. I’m paraphrasing, but she said, ‘just because I want little black girls to think they’re beautiful doesn’t mean I need to put down little girls with blonde hair and blue eyes.” This comment highlighted a message of inclusivity and mutual respect that resonated with the Vice President.
Nicki Minaj's appearance at AmericaFest is part of a broader trend of her becoming more politically outspoken in recent months. This increased engagement includes her vocal opposition to the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria, a cause that led her to speak at a United Nations event in November. Her recent activities indicate a growing willingness to use her platform for political and social commentary, moving beyond her established music career into the realm of public advocacy.
