Nasarawa's 2027 Governorship Race Kicks Off Early: Haruna Urged to Run

A prominent political advocacy group, the Sarkin Sharifai Political Warriors, has issued a fervent appeal to Professor Muhammad Sani Haruna, popularly known as Sarkin Sharifai, to contest the governorship election in Nasarawa State come 2027. This call was made during a solidarity rally convened yesterday at the Youth Centre Hall in Keffi, Nasarawa State, bringing together a diverse cross-section of supporters and elder statesmen and women.
According to Alhaji Iyal Hassan Aliyu, the chairman of the Sarkin Sharifai Political Warriors, the decision to endorse Professor Haruna followed an exhaustive and meticulous search for a suitable candidate. He stated that after evaluating over 24 aspirants vying for the state’s top political office, the group unequivocally identified Professor Haruna as the most exceptional choice. Aliyu highlighted Professor Haruna’s significant contributions to the state, particularly during his tenure as the head of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
During his leadership at NASENI, Professor Haruna was credited with providing substantial employment opportunities for the youth, spearheading crucial infrastructural developments, and maintaining an open-door policy that facilitated widespread humanitarian services. These achievements, among others, were cited by the forum as compelling reasons to persuade him to seek the state's highest office. The group emphasized that these demonstrated capabilities and his commitment to public service make him an ideal candidate to lead Nasarawa State into a new era of progress.
The Sarkin Sharifai Political Warriors is not merely a youth-led initiative but also boasts the membership of esteemed elder statesmen and women who have served, and continue to serve, in various political capacities both within Nasarawa State and beyond. These experienced individuals, having worked closely with Professor Haruna, attested to his profound abilities and visionary leadership, further solidifying the group's conviction in his potential.
Alhaji Aliyu used the platform to issue a resounding call to all citizens of Nasarawa State, particularly the youth, urging them to rally comprehensive support for Professor Muhammad Sani Haruna. This support, he stressed, is vital before, during, and after the forthcoming general elections, as it would enable him to build upon and consolidate the democratic gains initiated by the current administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule. The group characterized Professor Haruna as a “good omen” for both the state and the entire nation, citing his impressive track record at local, national, and international levels.
The urgent necessity to bring Professor Haruna into the political fold in 2027 was further underscored by Aliyu, who asserted that Haruna alone possesses the integrity and capacity to ensure equity, fairness, and justice for all segments of the state’s populace, irrespective of their political affiliations or social backgrounds. The rally concluded with a strong message of unity and the collective aspiration for a leadership that promises inclusive development and judicious governance for Nasarawa State.
