US Declares “Operation Epic Fury” Complete, Pushes for Diplomacy With Iran
US Secretary of State Rubio announced the conclusion of “Operation Epic Fury,” stating that all objectives of the operation were achieved.
Rubio emphasized that the United States is not seeking further conflict and prefers a path of peace and negotiation with Iran.
He conveyed President’s preference for a deal, specifically desiring a memorandum of understanding for future negotiations that addresses all critical topics.
A primary objective of these desired negotiations is the full opening of the Strait of Hormuz, which would allow global commerce to return to normalcy.
Secretary Rubio noted that the President would prefer these negotiations to proceed through established channels that have been actively supported by various officials.
However, he lamented that Iran has not yet chosen this preferred diplomatic route.
Consequently, the United States finds itself in a unique position as the only nation capable of creating a safe passage within the Strait of Hormuz to facilitate product flow and rescue individuals currently trapped there.
Rubio acknowledged that the future implications of these actions are speculative, and he refrained from further conjecture.
The Secretary of State delivered a stern message to Iran, highlighting the severe and potentially catastrophic economic destruction they are inflicting upon themselves.
He warned of generational destruction to their economy and national wealth, imposed by their own actions. Rubio strongly advised Iran to “check themselves before they wreck themselves” given the direction they are currently pursuing.
He reiterated to reporters that the offensive stage of the war with Iran is now “over” following the conclusion of Operation Epic Fury.
After approximately 50 minutes at the podium, Secretary Rubio concluded his media conference, having outlined the current stance of the United States regarding its interactions with Iran, emphasizing a preference for diplomacy while reaffirming the successful completion of military objectives and the nation's commitment to ensuring freedom of passage in vital waterways.
