Mets Stun Giants 4-2 as Bo Bichette Delivers Game-Winning Three-Run Homer

The New York Mets orchestrated a thrilling comeback victory against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday, securing a 4-2 win thanks to a pivotal eighth-inning rally.

The decisive blow came from Bo Bichette, who launched a go-ahead three-run home run with two outs after the Giants intentionally walked Juan Soto.

The Mets' late-game heroics began in the bottom of the eighth inning. Brett Baty initiated the rally with his second career pinch-hit home run, a drive off Carson Seymour that barely cleared the leftfield fence.

Following Baty's solo shot, A.J. Ewing kept the momentum going with a single, advancing to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Luis Torrens.

After a superb defensive play by rightfielder Jung Hoo Lee, who made a sliding catch on Francisco Lindor’s sinking liner, the Giants opted to intentionally walk the dangerous Juan Soto.

This strategic decision backfired spectacularly, as Bo Bichette seized the opportunity, hammering an 0-1 slider into the leftfield seats for his 16th home run of the season, effectively putting the Mets ahead 4-2.

On the pitching front, Tobias Myers, recently promoted from Triple-A Syracuse, earned his first win with the Mets. He entered the game in the eighth inning and successfully stranded a runner, preserving the Mets' newfound lead.

Closing out the game, Kodai Senga delivered a perfect ninth inning, notching his sixth save in as many opportunities, showcasing his reliability in high-pressure situations.

Mets starting pitcher, Christian Scott, pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing only three of his four hits in the fourth inning.

It was in this frame that the Giants initially took the lead on Jung Hoo Lee’s two-run single. Despite Scott's relatively short outing, the bullpen held strong, paving the way for the late-inning comeback.

For the San Francisco Giants, rookie Cesar Perdomo delivered an impressive major league debut. The lefthander held the Mets to just three singles over six innings, demonstrating composure and effectiveness on the mound.

Perdomo's strong performance included stranding a runner in the first inning after giving up a one-out single to Juan Soto, then striking out Bichette and Carson Benge. He also stranded another runner by getting Soto to pop up to end the third inning, keeping the Mets offense in check for much of his outing.

Looking ahead, the Mets announced that Jonah Tong will be recalled from the minors to make his sixth major league start, and his first of the current season, on Monday in Miami. Tong holds a 1-1 record with a 3.60 ERA over three relief appearances this season.

This upcoming start signifies another opportunity for the Mets to bolster their rotation.
