Mariah Carey Dominates Charts With Surprising New No. 1 Hit, Shakes Up Holiday Legacy!

Mariah Carey is experiencing a remarkable week on the Billboard charts, not only with her timeless holiday hit but also with new music. Her iconic 1994 single, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” continues its record-setting run, enjoying a 20th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Complementing this enduring success, Carey has unwrapped another chart-topper with her 2025 single, “In Your Feelings.” Released and promoted by MARIAH/gamma., the track has ascended from the runner-up position to claim the No. 1 spot on the Adult R&B Airplay chart dated December 27. According to Luminate, “In Your Feelings” was the most-played song on U.S. panel-contributing adult R&B radio stations during the December 12-18 tracking period. The single saw a significant 19% increase in plays compared to the previous week, earning it the Greatest Gainer honor for the largest increase on the list.
This achievement marks Carey’s fourth Adult R&B Airplay No. 1. Her journey to the top of this chart began in 2005 with “We Belong Together,” which held the summit for eight weeks. This was followed by “Fly Like a Bird,” a six-week champion in 2006. After a 19-year hiatus from the top spot, she returned in August with “Type Dangerous,” which led for three weeks. Interestingly, “We Belong Together” and “Fly Like a Bird” are featured on Carey’s 2005 album, The Emancipation of Mimi, while “Type Dangerous” and “In Your Feelings” are from her latest project, Here for It All. This new album, released in September, debuted at No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart. Notably, the consecutive No. 1 success of “Dangerous” and “Feelings” marks her first linking of back-to-back leaders on the Adult R&B Airplay chart, a feat not even achieved during her earlier hits like “Shake It Off” (No. 6) and “Don’t Forget About Us” (No. 12), which charted between her first two No. 1s.
Beyond the Adult R&B Airplay chart, “In Your Feelings” is also making waves on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, which compiles audience totals from both adult R&B and mainstream R&B/hip-hop radio stations. The track climbed from No. 17 to No. 12, improving its audience by 21% to 5.5 million and securing the chart’s Greatest Gainer prize as well. Her debut single, “Vision of Love,” originally topped the Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary charts back on August 4, 1990, showcasing her long-standing chart dominance.
Other tracks from Here for It All are also gaining traction. The “Type Dangerous” follow-up, “Sugar Sweet,” featuring Shenseea and Kehlani, reached No. 17 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, No. 23 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, and No. 31 on Rhythmic Airplay. This week, “Jesus I Do,” a collaboration with The Clark Sisters, debuted at No. 27 on Gospel Airplay, marking Mariah Carey’s first career appearance on that specific chart (and The Clark Sisters’ sixth). Looking ahead, the ballad “Nothing Is Impossible” from Here for It All is scheduled for promotion to adult pop and adult contemporary formats starting January 12. All Billboard charts dated December 27 are set to be updated on Tuesday, December 23, on Billboard.com.
