Kaduna State is poised to host the official flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign on Saturday, October 24, 2026, which marks the commencement of nationwide campaign activities for the forthcoming general elections. Thousands of party leaders, delegates, and supporters are expected to attend this significant event.
General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd.), the Minister of Defence and Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Committee on Intelligence, provided assurance regarding the state's readiness during an inspection of Ranchers Bees Stadium, one of the designated venues for the campaign flag-off. According to a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, preparations across Kaduna metropolis were in advanced stages, with organizing committees, security agencies, and party executives collaborating to ensure a successful event. General Musa’s inspection specifically focused on security arrangements, crowd management plans, and the overall state of the stadium’s infrastructure to guarantee the safety of attendees and the smooth movement of dignitaries. Adequate preparations have been made to receive the party’s presidential candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with APC leaders and supporters from across the country.
Further reinforcing the state's preparedness, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, the Kaduna State Deputy Governor and Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the APC 2027 presidential campaign flag-off, also confirmed the state's readiness to host President Bola Tinubu on Saturday. Her assurance followed an inspection of facilities at Kaduna Township Stadium, where she expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting that the holding area, conveniences, and pavilions were ready. The committee had extensively deliberated on security arrangements with experienced security professionals at both state and federal levels to ensure safety before, during, and after the rally. Attendees will be screened before being allowed into the stadium to further enhance security.
Officials anticipate a large turnout of APC members and supporters, recognizing the North-West as a stronghold of the ruling party. Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, confirmed that mobilization efforts were ongoing, with hotels and service apartments across Kaduna metropolis fully booked ahead of the event. Maiyaki described Kaduna’s selection as the host for the presidential campaign flag-off as both a privilege and an honour, reflecting the residents' eagerness to welcome President Tinubu.
The rally will provide an opportunity for the people of Kaduna to demonstrate their support for the President and the APC. The commissioner also attributed Kaduna’s strong support for the ruling party to the significant benefits the state has received from the APC-led Federal Government over the past three and a half years. These benefits include vital infrastructure projects and federal appointments for its indigenes. Specific projects highlighted include the conversion of the Federal College of Education, Zaria, into a university, the recent conversion of Kaduna Polytechnic into a Federal University of Technology, the construction of the 122-kilometre Mando–Birnin Gwari road, and the proposed Kaduna Light Rail Project.
