Journey to the Crown: Meet Nigeria's Miss World 2026 Star, Tamunosoye Karibi-George!

Nigeria's representative at the 73rd Miss World festival, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, has officially arrived in Vietnam, poised to compete for the prestigious international crown. Having departed Nigeria in a striking green-and-white tweed outfit and sunglasses, she is set to embark on a month-long journey of competition, cultural exchange, and community engagement alongside contestants from over 120 countries.

Tamunosoye Karibi-George, a familiar name to those who followed the Miss World Nigeria pageant in June 2026, earned the right to represent her nation after clinching the national crown. The 26-year-old mass communication graduate, originally from Port Harcourt and representing Bayelsa State, secured her victory at Balmoral Hall in Lagos, thereby taking on the honour of carrying Nigeria's flag on the global stage.

The 73rd Miss World global festival commenced on August 8, 2026, and is scheduled to run until September 5, 2026. Delegates will experience iconic Vietnamese destinations such as Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and Khanh Hoa, with the grand finale taking place in Ho Chi Minh City. Tamunosoye has already made her presence felt, notably stepping out for the opening ceremony in a stunning sheer high-neck white embellished evening gown with a layered ruffle skirt.

Beyond the glamour, Tamunosoye brings a strong academic and professional background to the competition. She is a degree holder from Madonna University, Okija, and an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. Her international experience is also notable, having previously won the Miss Africa International title in Accra, Ghana, in 2024.

Her mission extends beyond beauty and fashion; a significant part of her platform is her social impact campaign, the "Beyond Labels Initiative." This initiative is dedicated to advocating for the dignity, inclusion, and empowerment of children living with special needs. In Vietnam, she has already engaged in community outreach, including a visit to the Thiên Thái workshop for people with disabilities, dressed in a tailored brown ensemble.

In addition to her advocacy, Tamunosoye is a versatile creative professional, working as an event host, voice-over artist, and actress.
