Utah Jazz guard Trey Alexander was reportedly injured during an NBA summer league game against the Chicago Bulls in Las Vegas on Monday night. The incident occurred with just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, leading to Alexander being taken from the Thomas & Mack Center court on a stretcher due to apparent pain.
Alexander, who recently signed a two-way deal with the Utah Jazz last week, appeared to sustain the injury while driving to the basket. During his drive, he made contact with the Bulls' Caleb Wilson. Immediately after tossing the ball towards the hoop, Alexander went behind the basket, clutching his side or abdomen, and then dropped to the ground, indicating significant discomfort.
Following the incident, there was no immediate official word from the Jazz regarding the nature or severity of Alexander's injury. Steve Wojciechowski, the Jazz's summer league coach, stated that he did not witness the exact moment of the injury and could only confirm that Alexander was receiving care from the medical staff.
The 23-year-old guard has a notable background in basketball. He played three seasons at Creighton University before opting to turn professional, foregoing his final year of collegiate eligibility. Alexander was recognized as the G League Rookie of the Year for the 2024-25 season. In that same season, he played 24 games for the Denver Nuggets and also appeared in nine games for the New Orleans Pelicans last season.
