Metaplanet, a Japanese public company dedicated to a Bitcoin-centric financial strategy, has initiated the new year with a significant Bitcoin acquisition that has garnered considerable attention within the crypto community. Emulating the persistent Bitcoin accumulation approach of firms like MicroStrategy, Metaplanet continues to aggressively build its holdings of the leading cryptocurrency, signaling no intention of slowing down.
As of January 1, 2025, Metaplanet announced a substantial Bitcoin purchase. The firm acquired an additional 4,279 BTC at an average price of ¥16,325,148 per Bitcoin, which translates to approximately $104,638 per Bitcoin. This latest acquisition significantly boosts Metaplanet's total Bitcoin treasury.
With this recent transaction, Metaplanet's overall Bitcoin holdings have reached a substantial 35,102 BTC. These holdings were accumulated at an average purchase price of $102,000 per Bitcoin, bringing Metaplanet’s aggregate cost basis for its total Bitcoin reserves to over $3.5 billion.
Metaplanet's consistent expansion of its Bitcoin treasury throughout 2025 underscores its strong and aggressive long-term conviction in Bitcoin. The company's impressive milestones are attributed to its strategic deployment of both operating income and capital market funding, which are consistently channeled into growing its digital asset reserves, particularly Bitcoin. Data from the firm highlights a robust accumulation in Q2 2025, contributing approximately 129.4% to its reserve growth. With 35,102 BTC in its reserves, Metaplanet firmly establishes its position among the largest and fastest-growing corporate Bitcoin treasury firms globally.
