Idris Elba's Bold Claim: Global Star Declares Lagos 'Most Amazing City'

Acclaimed British actor Idris Elba has unequivocally declared Lagos, Nigeria, to be the 'most amazing city' globally. Sharing his profound impressions during an interview with etalk TV at the recent TIFF Tribute Awards, Elba reflected on his experiences while filming his upcoming project, ‘Dust to Dreams’, within the vibrant Nigerian metropolis. He emphasized that his time there left him with a “wealth of incredible memories,” underscoring the deep impact the city had on him.
Elba was particularly effusive in his praise for Nigeria’s abundant creative talent pool, stating, “Lagos, if you have never been there, is the most amazing city in the world. I had a great time. The talent there is incredible.” This sentiment highlights his appreciation for the local artistry and professionalism he encountered.

Among his most significant standout moments, Elba recounted witnessing British singer Seal (Henry Olusegun Samuel) perform using his Nigerian accent, a poignant acknowledgment of Seal's heritage. Elba described the opportunity to work alongside Seal as “a real blessing,” further illustrating the positive collaborative environment on set.
Another memorable highlight for Elba was a powerful musical performance by Seal and Nigerian singer Konstance. They delivered a song specifically composed for the film, creating a moment Elba found particularly moving. “One of the big standout moments is this really amazing song that we wrote for the film, and they performed it at the end. Seal and a lovely artiste called Konstance, it was incredible,” Elba added, emphasizing the emotional resonance and quality of the musical contribution to ‘Dust to Dreams’.
