Horror Unleashed: Suspect Nabbed in KNH Double Patient Murders!

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nairobi is actively probing two distinct yet equally disturbing cases involving mysterious deaths and murders within medical settings, highlighting critical concerns regarding patient safety and the circumstances of involuntary admissions. These high-profile investigations underscore the DCI's commitment to unraveling complex criminal narratives and ensuring justice.
One of the cases centers on the enigmatic death ofSusan Njoki, a prominent medical practitioner and the Chief Executive Officer of Toto Touch, an infant wellness business. Njoki tragically passed away on July 15 in a Nairobi medical facility, a mere day after she was allegedly forcibly abducted from her Kileleshwa home. The distressing sequence of events began on Monday, July 14, when Njoki urgently contacted her sister, Priscilla Wanjiku, informing her that four men had stormed her residence, forcibly injecting her with an unknown substance against her will. She explicitly stated that these men claimed to have been dispatched by a "Doctor Onyancha."

Upon Wanjiku's hurried arrival at Njoki's home, the watchman presented a note, purportedly from Njoki's husband, Alloys Ngure, granting permission for the men's entry. However, Ngure's account contradicted this, as he later suggested Njoki might have contacted the doctors herself. Despite his initial explanation, Ngure has since been arrested and is currently considered a person of interest in the DCI's ongoing investigation, alongside Doctor Onyancha. Prior to her alleged abduction, Njoki had publicly identified Doctor Onyancha on her Facebook page, detailing the unfolding events, a post which the family claims hospital staff later accessed and demanded she delete while she was admitted. Her friend, Eunice Njeri, who visited her at the hospital, recounted unsuccessful attempts to secure Njoki's discharge, leaving her in what they believed to be good condition, only to receive the grim news of her passing hours later.
Further shedding light on her final moments, an audio recording captures Njoki emotionally expressing her distress about being forcibly taken. She questioned the necessity of being dragged and injected, asserting she was in perfect health before the men entered her home. Reports indicate she was dragged from her bedroom, subjected to two forcible injections for presumed sedation, and then bundled into a vehicle. Despite her resistance and alleged lack of underlying health complications, Njoki was admitted to the Nairobi hospital, where she received a third injection of an unknown drug, after which her condition rapidly deteriorated, leading to her death.
Her sister maintains that Njoki was mentally stable and fully aware throughout the ordeal, challenging any suggestions of a mental breakdown. The DCI continues to meticulously investigate her death, focusing on the alleged abduction, forcible injections, the roles of her husband and Doctor Onyancha, and the actions of the medical facility staff, raising serious questions about patient rights and involuntary treatment.

In a separate and equally critical development, the DCI has announced a significant breakthrough in the investigation of two horrific killings atKenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in Nairobi, with the arrest of Kennedy Kalombotole, identified as the primary suspect. Kalombotole is accused of perpetrating the murders of two patients within the hospital premises: Edward Maingi Ndegwa and Gilbert Kinyua Muthoni.
Edward Maingi Ndegwa, a physically disabled patient admitted to Ward 7B, was discovered deceased on the afternoon of July 17, 2025. He had been checked by a nurse earlier that day and visited by a relative, both finding him stable. Approximately 30 minutes after his relative departed, a cleaner made the gruesome discovery of a pool of blood around Ndegwa’s neck. Detectives arriving at the scene observed tell-tale bloody slipper prints leading from Ndegwa’s bedside to a nearby toilet and then directly to a side room where Kalombotole was admitted. Inside this room, investigators recovered a pair of blue slippers and a blood-stained bedsheet. Crucially, a knife wrapped in gloves was found outside, directly beneath the seventh-floor window of Ndegwa’s ward, with all recovered items sent to the National Forensic Laboratory for analysis.
Further investigations have revealed that Kennedy Kalombotole, who was admitted to KNH on December 1, 2024, is also the prime suspect in the murder of 40-year-old Gilbert Kinyua Muthoni, who was tragically killed in Ward 7C during the night of February 6-7, 2025. This disturbing pattern of violent incidents attributed to the same individual within the hospital underscores the gravity of the situation. KNH Chief Executive Officer Dr. William Sigilai publicly expressed profound sadness over these events, extending the hospital's condolences to the victims' families. Top officers, including Kilimani Police Commander Patricia Yegon and DCI Kilimani boss Hussein Mahat, were on site gathering crucial evidence. Kalombotole is currently in custody, awaiting arraignment, as the DCI works to fully uncover the circumstances of both killings and ensure justice.
