Fake Doctor Sentenced to Death by Hanging for Murder In Ekiti High Court!

An Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti Division, on Tuesday sentenced a quack nurse, Olatide Emmanuel, to death by hanging over the killing of a woman, according to Punch.
The presiding judge, Justice Jubril Aladejana, delivered the judgment after finding the defendant guilty of causing the death of one Bosede Falade during a childbirth operation.
The convict was arraigned before the court on Dec. 11, 2025, on a two-count charge bordering on murder and impersonation.
According to the charge, Emmanuel on June 24, 2019 at Odo Ikole Compound, Erinmope-Ekiti, murdered Falade Bosede during childbirth.
The charge also stated that on June 9, 2019 at Ajebamidele Street, Otun-Ekiti, the convict falsely represented himself as a medical doctor.
Prosecutor Kunle-Shina Adeyemo said, “The offences are contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. C16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.”
An eyewitness, Rev. Omotade, told police that the deceased’s husband had called him to report that his wife had died during childbirth. Omotade said:
“On getting to the hospital, I saw the corpse on the stretcher while the self-acclaimed doctor stood beside the stretcher.
When I critically examined the body of the deceased, I discovered that the operation was carried out unprofessionally.
I later called the police at Otun Ekiti to take over the matter and carry out a full investigation,” he said.
Olatide Emmanuel told the court that he opened a clinic in Erinmope Ekiti in 2019 after completing a nursing apprenticeship in Lagos.
He said Bosede Falade wasn’t his regular patient but came to him when she was about to give birth.
After examining her, he advised her and her husband that she needed a Caesarean section, and they agreed.
Emmanuel insisted that the surgery went well at first, with both mother and baby surviving, but unfortunately, Falade later developed complications and passed away.
The prosecution called seven witnesses and presented key evidence, including statements, medical reports, and photographs of the deceased. The defendant, represented by Adeyinka Opaleke, did not call any witnesses in his defense.
“The defendant admitted under cross-examination that he wasn’t a trained medical professional, yet he went ahead and operated on a human being,” the judge said.
“This shows a shocking disregard for human life.”
He continued,
“The defendant acted with wicked recklessness, and his actions directly caused the death of Bosede Falade on 24th June 2019.
The prosecution has proven their case beyond any reasonable doubt. The defendant is guilty as charged.”
He ruled that the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that Emmanuel’s actions directly led to Falade’s death.
Justice Aladejana subsequently sentenced the defendant to death by hanging, declaring that the law must take its course.
