Horror as 'Mounjaro Mum' Admits Neglecting Kids Due to Weight Loss Drug Side Effects

A mother's candid revelation on TikTok about occasionally forgetting to feed her children while on the weight-loss drug Mounjaro has sparked a widespread debate. The woman, who has achieved significant weight loss using the GLP-1 injection, shared her experience with a picture of her children, stating, "Thanks. Sometimes I forget to feed them because I'm on Mounjaro." She elaborated in the caption, "Not easy remembering these little people are hungry."
Mounjaro, a GLP-1 drug, is administered weekly via injection and functions by suppressing appetite to aid in weight loss. The mother's admission highlighted an unexpected side effect of the medication: the profound reduction in hunger cues, which for some, extends beyond personal appetite to forgetting the mealtime needs of others.
The TikTok post quickly ignited a fierce discussion among users. A segment of the audience expressed shock and disapproval, with comments like, "I can forget a lot but definitely not feeding them." One user even mentioned needing to pack their son a lunch when he visited his grandmother, who was also on Mounjaro. Another commenter speculated whether this might inadvertently adjust children's eating habits, suggesting potential, albeit unintended, "generational benefits" if the children were previously being overfed.
However, the majority of the responses were surprisingly supportive and relatable. Many mothers and individuals on GLP-1 drugs shared similar experiences, admitting they, too, struggled with meal timing due to their suppressed hunger. Comments such as "I can relate, I don’t feel hungry at all! So meal times are all over the place, I forget they feel hungry!" and "Literally! My boy said ‘mum I’m hungry now’ - it was 6pm and he hadn’t had his tea" flooded the section. Some even confessed to forgetting to feed pets, leading them to set reminder alarms for meal times for their dependents. The TikToker herself hinted that the post was made in a light-hearted spirit, responding to a user by implying it was "not that deep."
