Hollywood Power Couple Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman Finalize Divorce After 19 Years

Country star Keith Urban and Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman have officially finalized their divorce, legally ending their 19-year marriage on Tuesday, January 6. The dissolution was granted by the Fourth Circuit Court of Davidson, Tennessee, where the couple had shared a residence in Nashville. According to court documents, neither party will pay spousal support or receive alimony, and both will cover their own legal fees related to the divorce.
The couple first confirmed their separation in September 2025, with Kidman filing for divorce citing “marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences.” Both Urban and Kidman agreed at the outset to amicably divide assets, aiming to minimize conflict during the proceedings.
The finalized divorce includes a detailed parenting plan for their two teenage daughters. Nicole Kidman will have primary custody for 306 days per year, while Keith Urban will spend every other weekend with the children. Both parents retain joint authority over major life decisions, although the agreement specifies that Kidman holds the final say if disagreements arise regarding significant matters affecting either child.
Urban and Kidman’s relationship began in 2005, culminating in a wedding in Sydney in June 2006. The couple welcomed daughters Sunday in 2008 and Faith in 2010. Kidman previously described meeting Urban as “the best thing that’s ever happened to me” during a 2022 interview with CBS Mornings, highlighting the couple’s enduring public admiration prior to their split.
Their last public appearances together included a FIFA Club World Cup game in June 2024 and the Academy of Country Music Awards in May 2024. Their Beverly Hills home was also burglarized on Valentine’s Day 2024, just two months before their separation became public knowledge.
In the months leading up to the divorce finalization, both maintained public silence. Fans, however, noted subtle hints in their media appearances. Kidman, in a Vogue interview, reflected on unexpected life changes, stating, “How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going, and then it isn’t going in that direction?” Urban, meanwhile, altered lyrics during an October concert of his song “The Fighter”—originally inspired by Kidman—singing, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player,” replacing the line “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter.”
