Harry Styles Unfiltered: Star Reveals Love for Italy and Post-Hiatus Slowdown

Harry Styles, the 30-year-old pop sensation, has recently shared insights into the significant lifestyle changes he has embraced. In a candid interview with The Sunday Times Magazine, published on Saturday, February 14, Styles opened up about a period of introspection and new experiences, including his affinity for Italy, the importance of decelerating after a demanding tour, becoming an uncle, and his dedication to running marathons.
Following the conclusion of his extensive Love on Tour in 2023, which supported his Grammy-winning third album, Harry’s House (released in 2022), Styles deliberately stepped away from the limelight. He emphasized that this hiatus was crucial for him to “stop for a bit and pay some attention to other parts of my life.” During this time, he was occasionally seen globally participating in major marathons or spotted in Rome last May, indulging in personal time.
Styles recounted spending the summer of 2024 in Italy, a period he described as a “transitional moment.” He appreciated the opportunity to cease working and settle somewhere, adapting to a new rhythm of life. His experiences in Rome profoundly influenced him, teaching him the value of slowing down. He reflected on a moment in a café where he realized the simple pleasure of being present, a “speciality” he credits to the Romans. This newfound appreciation for the moment helped him recognize the pace that had been missing in his fast-paced career.
Around the same time, Styles’ sister, Gemma, welcomed a baby, marking another pivotal life event for the artist. He expressed the profound clarity he gained from being present to watch his niece grow, stating, “it’s so obvious to me what’s real,” and confirming it was exactly “where I wanted to be.”
Further adjustments to his lifestyle include a conscious decision to distance himself from social media. Styles mentioned making “small changes, like not having Instagram on my phone any more,” which has led him to feel “so much healthier in my relationship with this world that I’m stepping back into.”
His passion for running, which began in his early twenties, intensified as he approached his 30th birthday. Recognizing that it would only become harder to start later, he committed to it. Running became a healthy outlet, providing structure during a time of solitude and demonstrating his capability to tackle difficult tasks independently. He underscored that running for him was not about achieving perfection or being the best, but rather a deeply rewarding personal journey.
Styles has since participated in significant running events. In March 2025, he completed the Tokyo Marathon, finishing the 26.2-mile race in three hours and 24 minutes, placing him in the top fraction of runners. Later, he also completed the 2025 Berlin Marathon in an impressive two hours and 59 minutes, reportedly under the pseudonym “Sted Sarandos.”
Musically, Styles teased his return in early January. His highly anticipated fourth solo album, titled Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, is slated for release on March 6, to be followed by an extensive global residency tour. The album's lead single, “Aperture,” made a strong debut, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early February, building considerable anticipation for the full album. This upcoming work follows a successful discography, including his 2017 self-titled debut, 2019’s Fine Line, and 2022’s Harry’s House, all of which soared to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with Harry’s House notably winning Album of the Year at the Grammys and featuring the 15-week Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper “As It Was.”
