Gomoa Easter Carnival Day 3 Ignites with Masquerades and Community Spirit

The maiden Gomoa Easter Carnival, spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus), and powered by the Multimedia Group Limited, continued to draw large crowds on its third day, Saturday, April 4. Hosted at the Gomoa Ekwamkrom Community Park, the festival offered a captivating blend of tradition, music, art, and community engagement, solidifying its position as a premier Easter destination in the Central Region.
Day 3 commenced with an unprecedented wave of endorsements and praise. Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament for Ketu North, joined thousands of attendees to witness the rich cultural showcase, publicly commending his colleague MP. Joy Prime fans and Gomoa indigenes also poured commendations for both their MP and the Multimedia Group Limited for their comprehensive coverage, highlighting the significant positive impact the event has had on the community.
The morning's festivities kicked off with a highly anticipated Masquerade Procession. Various fancy-dressed groups marched in a riot of colours from Gomoa Obuasi to Gomoa Ekwamkrom. Accompanied by synchronized brass band music and elaborate costumes, this vibrant parade drew massive crowds along its route, setting a festive tone for the day.
Following the procession, the cultural climax of the afternoon featured traditional leaders, adorned in colourful kente and regal embellishments. Carried in majestic palanquins, they moved through the principal streets of Ekwamkrom, accompanied by thunderous traditional drumming and intricate dancing. This procession provided a rare opportunity for visitors to witness the undiluted royalty and history of the Gomoa people, culminating in a grand durbar. The durbar, held in honour of the Paramount Chief of the Oguaa Traditional Area (Cape Coast), Osaberima Kwasi Atta, included speeches delivered by the MP for Gomoa Central and other important personalities, underscoring themes of unity, leadership, and cultural continuity.
Adding a modern creative twist, the corridor from Gomoa Jukwa to Gomoa Ekwamkrom was transformed into an open-air gallery. Professional and amateur artists engaged in live street painting, depicting scenes of Gomoa’s history and aspirations on dedicated canvases and murals along the main road, turning the streets into a vibrant moving canvas.
As the sun began to set, all eyes turned to the Gomoa Ekwamkrom Community Park for the festival's grand musical finale: the high-energy Street Anthem & Afrobeat Concert. The night was set to feature a legendary lineup that spanned the history of Ghanaian Hiplife and Afrobeat.
