Golf Club Scores Big for Charity: Westwood Raises £55k for Scottish Hospices

Westwood Golf Club in East Kilbride recently hosted its annual charity golf day, a beloved event that successfully raised a substantial £10,000 for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS). This significant contribution has remarkably propelled the club's cumulative fundraising efforts for CHAS to over £55,000, underscoring a strong and ongoing commitment to the charity.
The popular event, a highlight in the club's calendar, brought together a diverse group of golfers, local businesses, and dedicated supporters for a day filled with sport, fun, and philanthropic spirit last month. The impressive sum was achieved through a combination of generous raffle donations, sponsorships from various entities, and the diligent efforts of the organising committee, all of which contributed to the event's success.
John Muir, the Charity Convenor, expressed immense pride and gratitude for the collective effort, stating, "Westwood Golf Club is proud to support the incredible work CHAS does for children and families across Scotland. Reaching more than £55,000 in total fundraising is something our members and community can be extremely proud of. None of it would be possible without the generosity of our golfers, sponsors, and supporters who give their time, money, and prizes year after year.”
CHAS plays a crucial role in providing vital hospice services to children throughout Scotland who are living with life-shortening conditions, along with support for their families. These services are delivered both in the comfort of their homes and within dedicated hospices, specifically Robin House in Balloch and Rachel House in Kinross. The support from organisations like Westwood Golf Club is essential for CHAS to continue its mission.
A spokesperson for CHAS conveyed their deep appreciation for the consistent fundraising efforts. They highlighted that the continuous support from Westwood Golf Club ensures CHAS can persist in its mission to reach every child in Scotland who requires their services. The funds help in "keeping the joy alive for the families in our care, and making sure they can make precious memories together, even through the most challenging moments.” Westwood Golf Club has firmly pledged to maintain and build upon its strong partnership with CHAS, continuing its fundraising endeavours in the years to come, sustained by the generosity of its members, guests, and sponsors.
