Global Superstars Set to Dazzle at 2026 FIFA World Cup Opening!

The highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to feature a star-studded lineup for its opening ceremonies across the three host nations: the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. According to reports from The New York Times’ The Athletic, a diverse array of global music talents will grace the stages, promising spectacular pre-game entertainment.
In the United States, Los Angeles will host the opening ceremony ahead of the U.S. men’s national team’s inaugural game against Paraguay on June 12. Pop superstar Katy Perry is slated to headline this event at SoFi Stadium. She will be joined by rapper Future and DJ Sanjoy, ensuring a vibrant start to the tournament in the U.S.
Canada’s opening festivities will take place in Toronto, preceding the match between Canada and Bosnia & Herzegovina on June 12. The ceremony will feature performances by renowned Canadian artists, including Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara, and Alanis Morissette. The Athletic also mentioned other Canadian talents like Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, and William Prince as part of the broader celebrations, though their specific performances for June 12 were not directly confirmed.
Mexico will kick off its part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 11, with the opening ceremony at Azteca Stadium preceding the game against South Africa. Fans in Mexico City will be treated to a pre-game performance by the iconic rock band Maná, alongside South African singer Tyla and the cumbia group Los Ángeles Azules.
Beyond these primary locations, additional talent is expected to be dispersed for various opening ceremony performances around the globe. This expanded roster reportedly includes artists such as J Balvin, Danny Ocean, Elyanna, and Marilina Bogado, indicating a truly international celebration of the sport and music.
While the opening ceremonies are taking shape, FIFA has yet to announce the artists who will perform during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. In addition to live performances, an official FIFA World Cup album is also in the works. Colombian superstar Shakira has already teased a reggaetón-Afrobeats fusion collaboration with Burna Boy, titled “Dai Dai,” which is expected to be released with a music video on May 14. Billboard has reached out to representatives for several key performers and FIFA for further details.
