Nana Akua Addo’s Husband to Face Court After Hospital Discharge, Police Say

The husband of Ghanaian actress and fashion personality Nana Akua Addo is expected to appear in court after his discharge from hospital, the Ghana Police Service has said.

Harold Norman was due to appear before a court on October 7 in connection with domestic abuse allegations made by his wife, Rosemond Akua Adobea, but his lawyer informed police that he had been admitted to hospital.

Investigators from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) visited the hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation, police said. Norman is expected to be arraigned after he is discharged.

The case began before the videos went viral

According to the Criminal Investigations Department, Nana Akua Addo petitioned the CID on August 20, alleging that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.

Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with the investigation. Police said he gave a caution statement and was granted police enquiry bail with two sureties on August 29.

The CID also said its preliminary investigation found that a previous case involving the couple had been handled by DOVVSU at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July.

That means the police investigation was already underway before videos and images involving the couple began circulating widely on social media this week.

Police are urging caution around the viral material

The case has attracted significant public attention after images and videos appeared online showing Nana Akua Addo with visible injuries. Other footage circulating online has also raised allegations involving a child.

Those materials have generated competing claims about what happened. The details remain under investigation, and the allegations have not been established in court.

Norman's legal team has also disputed aspects of the narrative surrounding the images and videos, saying the public should allow the legal process to take its course.

That makes the police's latest update particularly important: the case is being handled through an ongoing investigation rather than social media claims.

Support is also being provided

The CID said it is working with Ghana's Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to provide social welfare services for Nana Akua Addo and the children.

Ghana has established institutions specifically to respond to domestic and gender-based violence. DOVVSU, for example, handles cases involving violence against women and children, while the Gender Ministry has also maintained programmes aimed at supporting survivors and strengthening the country's response to domestic violence.

For now, the next step is straightforward: Norman is expected in court after his hospital discharge, while investigators continue to establish what happened and determine the appropriate legal action.

The police have asked the public to allow that process to continue and have reiterated that complaints of domestic violence should be investigated professionally and fairly.
