Former Miss Nigeria Chioma Amadi Earns Master’s Degree in Interior Design

Former Miss Nigeria, Chioma Amadi, has added another remarkable achievement to her journey, graduating with a Master’s degree in Interior Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in the United States.
The former beauty queen, who made history as the 40th Miss Nigeria, described the accomplishment as the fulfillment of a long-held dream and a testament to perseverance, discipline and personal growth.
In a video reflecting on her academic journey, Amadi shared an emotional memory of her late mother's encouragement after receiving her admission letter. She recalled being told, “Akụkọ m na-agụghị, i ga-agụ ya times two,” an Igbo expression meaning, “The education I could not get, you will get it twofold.”
The achievement marks a significant transition from pageantry to professional design, showcasing Amadi’s commitment to expanding her career beyond the spotlight. Her graduation photos captured her celebrating the milestone in academic regalia while holding a bouquet of flowers, symbolizing the culmination of years of hard work.
Amadi revealed that the programme demanded intense dedication, involving rigorous projects, long nights, detailed presentations and countless hours refining design concepts. According to her, the experience was about more than academics—it became a journey of self-discovery that helped shape her identity as a designer.
The Savannah College of Art and Design is widely regarded as one of the world's leading art and design institutions, with its interior design programmes consistently ranked among the best globally.
For many young Nigerians, Amadi’s story serves as a powerful reminder that success is not limited to one path. Her journey from winning a national crown to earning an advanced design degree highlights the value of continuous learning, resilience and the courage to pursue new ambitions.
As congratulatory messages continue to pour in, Amadi’s latest achievement stands as an inspiring example of how determination and education can open doors to new opportunities far beyond the stage.
