Football Federation Heads Clash: NFF President Breaks Silence on Moroccan A Row F!
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Musa Gusau has strongly refuted circulating claims of a heated altercation with Moroccan FA president Fouzi Lekjaa following Nigeria’s defeat at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. In a statement, Gusau described the reports as “false and baseless,” emphasizing that no confrontation or exchange of insults occurred. He expressed surprise at the origin of the rumors and reaffirmed the cordial relationship between Nigerian and Moroccan football authorities.
No Comments on Officiating
Gusau clarified that he never made any statements regarding match officiating, either before or after the game. He stressed that the NFF had no apprehensions about refereeing and dismissed suggestions of a verbal clash with Lekjaa over officiating. The president emphasized his personal good rapport with the Moroccan FA chief, underscoring the professionalism and mutual respect between both football associations.
Praise for AFCON Organizers
Despite debates and fan reactions to refereeing decisions in the semi-final, Gusau maintained a conciliatory tone. He commended the Morocco Football Federation, the Local Organising Committee, the Government of Morocco, and CAF for executing a successful tournament. According to Gusau, the AFCON showcased expected glamour and spectacle, delivering a memorable experience for fans and players alike.
