First Look: Beth and Rip's 'Dutton Ranch' Spinoff Sets May Release, Teaser Drops

Paramount has officially announced the premiere date for the highly anticipated “Yellowstone” spinoff, “Dutton Ranch,” setting its debut for May 15. The series will launch with its first two episodes globally on Paramount+ and simultaneously at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Paramount Network, with subsequent new episodes releasing weekly. The inaugural season is confirmed to consist of nine episodes, promising a compelling new chapter in the “Yellowstone” universe.
This new drama picks up Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser)’s story after the events of the original series. Despite their aspirations to leave the violence and ghosts of Montana behind, the duo finds themselves embroiled in a new, brutal fight for survival in an unexpected locale: South Texas. The series' setting in Texas marks a notable departure from the implied Dillon, Montana ranch purchase at the conclusion of “Yellowstone,” immediately thrusting Beth and Rip into fresh challenges.
The official logline for “Dutton Ranch” provides a vivid insight into the show's intense premise: “As Beth and Rip fight to build a future together – far from the ghosts of Yellowstone – they collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire. In South Texas, blood runs deeper, forgiveness is fleeting, and the cost of survival might just be your soul.” Early teasers and first-look images released by Paramount underscore this theme, depicting Beth and Rip in a violent struggle for their new life.
The cast for Season 1 boasts a mix of returning favorites and new talents. Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprise their iconic roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, respectively. Finn Little returns as Carter, a character from the original series. New additions to the ensemble include Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney (as Rob-Will), J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, and Natalie Alyn Lind (as Oreana). Veteran actors Ed Harris (as Everett McKinney) and Annette Bening (as Beulah Jackson) are also part of the cast, promising a rich tapestry of characters.
“Dutton Ranch” is based on characters originally created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson. Chad Feehan takes the helm as the series' creator, executive producer, and showrunner. Sheridan and Linson also serve as executive producers, alongside David C. Glasser, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, and the stars Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, and Keith Cox. Christina Alexandra Voros directed multiple episodes, including both the premiere and the season finale. Additional directorial duties for the season were handled by Greg Yaitanes, Jessica Lowrey, and Phil Abraham. The production of the series is a collaborative effort between Paramount Television and 101 Studios.
This marks the second “Yellowstone” spinoff to premiere this year, following CBS’s recent airing of “Marshalls,” which saw Luke Grimes return in his role as Kayce Dutton.
