Fifi Kwetey Urges NDC to Prioritize Ghana’s Interests Above Party Politics

Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has outlined a vision for Ghanaian politics based on a clear hierarchy: the country first, the party second, and the individual last.
Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, he stressed that true leadership requires prioritizing the nation and collective good over personal ambition or partisan loyalty.
Kwetey criticized widespread hypocrisy in Ghanaian politics, noting that many claim to support the collective interest but choose personal gain when tested.
He argued that understanding this hierarchy would reduce internal political tensions and “door issues.”
He emphasized that the NDC must hold itself to higher standards if it hopes to lead Ghana’s “reset agenda.”
The party cannot condemn the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for behaviors it tolerates internally.
Kwetey described ending “business as usual” as essential for building public trust and achieving meaningful national transformation.
Kwetey framed his message as a reminder of the NDC’s core values, referencing the party anthem, which emphasizes putting Ghana first.
He stressed that internal improvement is necessary to produce leaders capable of guiding the country effectively.
He also noted a shift in Ghana’s political landscape, where voters are increasingly discerning and reject empty promises.
The electorate demands accountability, foresight, and genuine commitment to the collective good, as evidenced in recent elections.
Finally, Kwetey expressed his willingness to face personal consequences, including the loss of political ambition, for promoting these values and reforms.
He urged party members to focus on strong principles that will strengthen the NDC and Ghana, ensuring leaders set inspiring examples for future generations.
