A nationwide recall has been initiated for Live it Up Super Greens dietary supplement powder following its confirmed link to a multistate Salmonella outbreak. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported that 45 individuals across 21 states have fallen ill, with 12 hospitalizations recorded. No deaths have been reported since the outbreak was first identified in August.
The recalled products include Live it Up Super Greens dietary supplement powder in both original and wild berry flavors, with expiration dates ranging from August 2026 to January 2028. The product was sold primarily online through the Live it Up website and major e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, eBay, and Walmart, contributing to its wide distribution across the United States.
Confirmed Salmonella cases have been reported in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin. The geographic spread highlights the nationwide reach of the contaminated supplement and the seriousness of the public health concern.
Consumers in possession of the recalled Super Greens powder are advised not to consume it. The FDA recommends disposing of the product immediately or returning it to the place of purchase. Additionally, any surfaces, containers, or utensils that may have come into contact with the supplement should be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized to reduce the risk of further contamination.
The FDA also urges individuals who may have consumed the product to monitor for symptoms of Salmonella infection, including diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, which typically appear within 12 to 72 hours. While most cases resolve within a week, medical attention is advised if symptoms develop, particularly among vulnerable populations. This recall follows a similar incident in November involving Member’s Mark Super Greens powder sold at Sam’s Club, where contaminated organic moringa leaf powder was identified as the source, underscoring ongoing supply chain risks within the dietary supplement industry.
