A nationwide recall has been initiated for Live it Up Super Greens dietary supplement powder due to its confirmed link to a widespread Salmonella outbreak. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall after 45 individuals across 21 states reported illnesses, with 12 requiring hospitalization. Fortunately, no deaths have been associated with this outbreak since reports began in August.

The specific products under recall are Live it Up Super Greens dietary supplement powder in both original and wild berry flavors. Consumers should check for expiration dates ranging from August 2026 to January 2028. This supplement was primarily sold online through the Live it Up website, as well as major online retailers including Amazon, eBay, and Walmart, ensuring a broad distribution across the U.S.

Confirmed Salmonella cases have been reported in the following 21 states: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin. This extensive list underscores the nationwide reach of the contaminated product and the severity of the public health concern.

Consumers who possess the recalled Super Greens powder are strongly advised not to consume it. Instead, they should immediately dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase. It is also critical to thoroughly clean and sanitize any surfaces or containers that may have come into contact with the recalled supplement to prevent further spread of the bacteria.

The FDA urges individuals who have consumed the recalled Super Greens powder to be vigilant for symptoms of Salmonella infection. These symptoms typically include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, and usually manifest within 12 to 72 hours after consuming a contaminated product. While most infections resolve within a week, it is crucial to contact a healthcare provider if these symptoms develop, especially for vulnerable populations who may experience more severe illness.

This current recall of Live it Up Super Greens is not an isolated incident within the greens powder market. In November, Member’s Mark Super Greens supplement powder, sold exclusively at Sam's Club nationwide, was also recalled due to a Salmonella outbreak. That incident led to 11 illnesses and 3 hospitalizations across seven states. Investigations into the Member's Mark recall specifically identified organic moringa leaf powder from Vallon Farm Direct of India as the source of contamination, highlighting potential supply chain vulnerabilities in the dietary supplement industry.
