Fatal Highway Horror: Four Killed, Dozens Injured in Zimbabwe Road Crash
A tragic head-on road traffic accident on the Harare-Mukumbura Road has led to the deaths of four individuals and left at least 20 others injured, as confirmed by the police. The collision occurred on Monday at the 86-kilometre peg, involving a Nissan Latio and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus. According to police reports, the Nissan Latio, which was carrying two passengers, reportedly lost control, swerving into the oncoming lane before colliding with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus, which had 21 passengers on board.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) released a statement confirming the immediate fatalities at the scene. "All three occupants of the Nissan Latio and one passenger from the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter died on the spot," the statement read. Following the devastating crash, emergency services were promptly dispatched to the location. They attended to the scene where 20 other passengers had sustained injuries ranging in severity.
The injured victims were swiftly transported to Bindura Hospital to receive urgent medical attention. Concurrently, the bodies of the four deceased individuals were also conveyed to the same institution for post-mortem examinations to determine the exact cause of death. As of now, the identities of the victims have not been publicly disclosed by the police, pending the notification of their next of kin.
