The hotel, a symbol of Eastern Region's resilience, elegance, and enterprise, had regrettably suffered 15 years of neglect, standing as an affront to local pride.

Governor Mbah highlighted that the hotel's rejuvenation aligns with his administration's core pledge to recover Enugu's moribund assets and transform liabilities into engines of growth. He stated that the unveiling represents more than just opening a hotel; it signifies the reopening of Enugu's confidence and a clear declaration that the state is truly "open for business." This initiative is a strategic enabler for an ambitious plan to grow Enugu's economy sevenfold, aiming for at least $30 billion, and to achieve a zero percent poverty headcount rate.

The city's burgeoning hospitality ecosystem now includes a 5,000-seat International Conference Centre (ICC), an adjacent 5-star, 345-room ICC Hotel currently under construction, and the recently launched Enugu Air. He also commended the contractors, Dilworth, for their meticulous attention to detail, and acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Commissioners of Works and Infrastructure and Culture and Tourism.

Dame Ugochi Madueke, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, eloquently declared that "the silence has been broken; the lights are on – never to dim again; the doors are open – never to shut again; and the spirit of Enugu is back, stronger and brighter than ever."
